Barbados is a tropical island located in the Caribbean Sea, approximately 13 degrees north (latitude) of the equator and 59 degrees west (longitude). The island has a warm and sunny climate with relatively consistent temperatures throughout the year, making it a popular tourist destination.
The average temperature in Barbados ranges from about 24 degrees celsius (75 degrees fahrenheit) to 29 degrees celsius (84 degrees fahrenheit) year-round. The warmest months are typically June through September, with average high temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s (Celsius), while the coolest months are December through February with average high temperatures in the mid-20s (Celsius).
The island has a rainy season that typically runs from June to November, with the highest rainfall occurring in September and October. The average rainfall in Barbados is around 1,500mm (60 inches) per year. However, despite this rainy season, the island is still relatively dry, with lots of sunshine and low humidity. Barbados is also known for its trade winds, which blow from the northeast and provide a welcome relief from the heat. These winds also help to keep the island cool and dry.
In conclusion, as with many Caribbean islands, Barbados is at risk of hurricanes and tropical storms during the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June to November. While the island is relatively safe from direct hits due to its location outside of the main hurricane belt, it can still experience heavy rains and strong winds from passing storms.
